Ciment (pleating) LTD Terry (the presenter) Brought in patterns and fabric samples, he explained the whole pleating process which I found fascinating.

I was blown away by the complexity of some of the intricate designs they produce. Some of which are amazingly futuristic. The pleats are created by hand folded patterns made out of card. A pattern can take up to 80hrs to create. (see photos)

Pleating is a steam process, no chemicals are used during the pleating process. Permancy depends entirely on the fabric, for example 100% Polyester fabrics are best for holding the pleats, even when washed. Natural fibres can be pleated but care needs to be taken when wearing and cleaning. The fabric is streched onto the patern then steamed.

The company designed Lady Gagas outfits for her last world tour and the Queens skydive outfit at the 2012 Olympic opening ceremony!. This company is also happy to pleat fabrics for fashion/design students.

Cedric was chosen as judges favourite on programme 5, the prize was to have her work on display at the V&A. Cedric has now been sold but can be viewed at the V&A until the Nov 12.

Katie first weaves her fabric on a hand-loom, using carefully chosen yarns, she then hand sews her teddy Bears, using traditional joints on the arms and legs, English glass eyes and hand stitched nose detail. Katie pays exceptional attention to detail, the whole process to make one Bear can take several weeks. Katie currently sells her Teddy Bears through Perry Nelvill Katie is also working on several commissions for private buyers.

Katie Mantell Creative threads This is Marvin. One day while happily pegging out the washing, a thought came into my little head…. This apron would be great for when I do craft events…. stash my phone, business cards and cash, much prettier than the bum bag! I now sell these Aprons to crafters, vintage lovers and home makers…. I,m now on the look out for some fab vintage inspired fabric to add to my collection! my aprons can be purchased from Claire Mantell Can make to order, just drop by my page and leave a pm.

I really must start weaving again!
